Gary L. Burkey,
CPCU
Chief Executive Officer
Gary L. Burkey, CPCU
is Chief Executive Officer of Burkey Risk Services, Inc. and
head of the company’s Commercial Insurance Division.
Gary is a graduate of the University of Maryland in Business
Administration in 1973 and is an avid Terrapin ACC Basketball
fan.
In 1973 to 1980, Gary began his insurance
career with Travelers Insurance Company as a Commercial Underwriter
in Annandale, VA and then joined CNA Insurance Company in
Silver Springs, MD as Commercial Underwriting Manager, and
was relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1977.
From 1980 – 1984 Gary had the opportunity
to join Lumberman’s Mutual Insurance Company in Orlando,
FL as Regional Vice President overseeing all underwriting,
loss control and audit functions for five states in the Southeastern
territory.
With his vast experience in Property and
Casualty Loss Control and Risk Management, a unique opportunity
arose for Gary in 1984 to open the first Florida branch for
Eagle Star Insurance Company headquartered in London, England.
In three years the company exceeded $8,000,000 in sales.
In April 1987, Gary founded Burkey Risk
Services, Inc. in Maitland, FL with responsibilities including
corporate sales and management of over 30 employees, in two
regional offices in Florida with Sales over $30,000,000 and
licensed to do business in over 30 states.
Gary earned the distinguished designation
of CPCU, “Chartered
Property and Casualty Underwriter”, in 1980.
Burkey Risk Services, Inc. is a proud member
of The Sitkins 100 Group; Florida Association of Independent
Agents; Home Builders Association; Florida Golf Course Owners
Association; and the Asian American Hotel Owners Association.
Gary has served on Safeco Insurance Company’s
SE Region Advisory Council; Georgia Casualty’s President’s
Advisory Council; Fireman’s Fund Agents Council; Board
of Directors of New Hope For Kids, a non-profit children’s
foundation, and has served on various local bank Boards. Gary
is also an active member of Legatus, a Catholic Business Owners
organization, and is a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.
Gary resides with his wife Julie in Maitland,
FL and has three children and two grandchildren. Gary is an
avid Redskins fan and Orlando Magic Fanatic.

Julie M. Burkey,
PSM
President
Julie M. Burkey, PSM
is President of Burkey Risk Services, Inc., and directs the
Employee Benefits Division as well as overseeing all new business
production.
Julie is from Maryland and attended Strayer
College in Washington, D.C. She began her career in insurance
in 1975 as President of her insurance auditing firm which
provided outsourced services for regional and national insurance
companies, providing auditing, rating, and policy issuance
and quality control.
In July of 1981, she founded Corporate
Travel, Inc. and developed the company into the largest privately
owned commercial travel agency in Central Florida providing
corporate travel and meeting and convention planning to various
Fortune 500 companies with regional offices in Orlando. The
company was sold to World Travel Partners in Atlanta in 1990.
With the opportunity to return to the field
of risk management in 1990, Julie joined Burkey Risk Services,
Inc. With sales over $30,000,000, and licensed to do business
in over 30 states, Julie is responsible for the sales management
and operations of the commercial, employee benefits, and personal
lines departments.
Julie earned her PSM, “Principles
of Safety Management” designation in 2005 and is committed
to continuing her education in Risk Management and Loss Control.

Julie is a member of Legatus, a Catholic
Business Owners organization; and is a member of the Annunciation
Church Mixed Ensemble a Contemporary Christian choir group;
which allows her to fulfill her passion for music.
Julie and her husband Gary have three children
and two grandchildren. They reside in Maitland, Florida.

Stefan D. Burkey
Vice President
Stefan D. Burkey is Vice
President of Burkey Risk Services, Inc. He is a graduate of
Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida earning his Bachelor’s
Degree in Corporate Organizational Behavior in 2003.
Stefan joined Burkey Risk Services in 1995
as a trainee in the Commercial Insurance Department, and in
1997 was one of the youngest licensed insurance brokers in
the State of Florida.
Stefan brings a new approach to insurance
and his area of specialty, the Hospitality Industry. He is
working closely with his insurance companies in developing
programs to meet the specific needs of his clients. His constant
focus is on Risk Management and Loss Control with the ultimate
goal of lowering long term insurance costs for his clients.
Stefan is committed to education and is
working towards his ARM “Accredited Risk Manager”
designation.
Stefan is a member of the Asian American
Hotel Owners Association, and Florida Restaurant Association.
Stefan enjoys golfing and playing basketball.
Stefan resides in Oviedo, Florida with his wife Lisa, and their
son. They are members of The Annunciation Catholic Church
and enjoy spending their time boating and traveling.

Dennis McNamara,
CIC
Vice President
Dennis McNamara, CIC
is Vice President of Burkey Risk Services, Inc. and oversees
the daily operation of the Boynton Beach office. Dennis is
a graduate of Morrisville State University of New York and
Syracuse University majoring in Economics.
After active duty in the U.S. Marine Corp,
Dennis began his insurance career with the Glen Falls Insurance
Company in 1964 as a Marketing representative in Watertown,
NY and Columbus, OH.
In 1968 Dennis had an opportunity to come
to Boynton Beach and manage the Swank – O’Leary
Insurance Agency later known as O’Leary Insurance Agency,
Inc. In 1976 Dennis purchased the agency and it became D.
McNamara & Associates, Inc. which operated until 1993
when he merged with Burkey Risk Services.
Dennis earned his designation of CIC “Certified
Insurance Counselor” in September 1989.
Dennis is past President of the South
Palm Beach County Insurance Agents 1975 – 1976 and 1979
– 1980. He also served on the City Council of Boynton
Beach. Dennis is a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church
and Quail Ridge Country Club where he has resided for over
20 years.
Dennis and his wife Gail have three children
and four grandchildren. Dennis is an avid tennis player and
golfer. Dennis and Gail are season tickets holders of the
Miami Dolphins for over 20 years and Florida Marlins. |
